Day 1 Results - London may be getting chilly but that had no effect on the great turnout in our first round of our tag rugby competition at Kennington Park. Talent came from all over South London and it will be a tough job seeding these amazing schools for next weeks finals. Finishing on top of their pools in the final rounds today were Telferscot, Glenbrook and Bonneville - It's back to the drawing board for one more week of preparation before next Wednesday's finals - I'll be keeping a close eye on Vauxhall and Ashmole after they had some convincing wins in their pool games. Julians, Henry Cavendish and Woodmansterne we all so close to the top after some tight draws just left them missing out on those winning points. Final Day - What a day! Amazing energy, agility and teamwork displayed at the Moving Matters Tag Rugby competition today. Twelve excited schools turned up at Kennington Park to play for a place in the final today, but nobody knew how hard that was going to be. Reaching our 1/4 final stage today was Ashmole, Glenbrook, Henry Cavendish, Immanuel & St. Andrews, Bonneville and Vauxhall. Two very close 1/4 finals saw Immanuel and Bonneville miss out on a spot in the semi-finals. Incredible skill, composure and teamwork booked Henry Cavendish their spot in the final when they played a tenacious Glenbrook side. Vauxhall pushed hard against an ever-improving Ashmole and came out on top ready for their final encounter of the day. Julians, Larkhall, Woodmansterne and Telferscot tagged hard in the plate final with everyone getting another win under their belt.  All teams surrounded our finals pitch for what would be the most exciting game of the day. Henry Cavendish got the game off to a flying start with an incredible interception finished with pace and precision. Vauxhall with the clock ticking down didn't give up and continued to work hard to stop the unbeaten Henry Cavendish. Henry Cavendish moved into second gear, maintained the lead and continued their unbeaten streak to win the Moving Matters Tag Rugby Tournament. Well Done !!! As hard as it is to believe our year 5/6 swimming gala was even bigger and better this year. This week 18 schools descended on Streatham Leisure Center to unveil their swimming talents in a bid to take home the Moving Matters Swimming Trophy 2017. With the help of Lambeth Academy, Lambeth swimming manager Caroline Findley and of course our wonderful Moving Matters staff we pulled off an incredible 45 races. We covered all different strokes both individual and relay and all our winners came out with a certificate at the end of their race. Whilst we  fully support effort and participation at all our events the talent is forever on the rise. We encourage everyone taking part to give their very best effort and that's exactly what was on display this week at our Moving Matters gala.  To experience some of the excitement and more details have a quick look at our highlights video, social media. Netball mania fell upon Vauxhall Primary school for what was to be the most competitive competition of the year. Day one saw us umpire over 30 games in the round robin stages and allowed us to seed our schools for the exciting Day 2 - Finals day. The sun was out but the chill in the air helped us to move swiftly through all our games and to find our plate and trophy finalists before the end of day. After a tough day 1 Sunnyhill Primary school came back fighting to win all their games and take home the plate. Whilst Henry Cavendish and Glenbrook Primary skilled it out in the final. It was the Henry Cavendish team that scored the golden goal and took home the trophy after a very tense game. Incredible skill, commitment and most importantly enjoyment was seen from all courts over the two days and a big thank you to Vauxhall Primary School year 6 leaders who came to help with score and timing on the day.

What a great success !!! Last Monday's muli-skills madness saw over 400 children and 50 adults from 15 different schools desend on Lambeth Academy school. Moving Matters staff along with staff and leaders from Lambeth Academy ran an exciting, active festival for key stage one children. Schools came in the snow to attend and from the feedback it was well worth their while. We tested their tennis skills, speed, agiltiy, basketball, football along with some yoga, target throwing and an exciting trampoling station. We finished both days off with a full group dance choreograghed by two amazing Lambeth Academy students. With glowing feedback from schools it will be a partnership we hope to grow for future competitions. Thank you to all who attended. Check out our video for a snapshot of the madness and all the smiles. !

What a fantastic day for the Moving Matter's Dodgeball Tournament today. 150 athletes arrived ready and waiting to take on an action-packed day of dodgeball. Lambeth Academy hosted our competition and provided their excellent leaders throughout the tournament in roles such as managers, timers, referees and scorekeepers. All of the dodgings, ducking and diving made us dizzy at the start but once we settled into the games it was clear that winning this year's trophy was going to be no easy feat. An incredible level of skill, team play, tactics and pure effort was displayed by every player throughout the competition. Elmwood and Johanna had a playoff game to try and book their place in the semi-final position whilst Glenbrook, Henry Cavendish and Bonneville finished top of their pool and secured their place in the final. Glenbrook made another appearance in the final today at dodgeball but came up short against a very skilful Elmwood. Henry Cavendish finished in third place followed by Bonneville in fourth. Congratulations Elmwood and a big thank you to all schools and again to our hosts Lambeth Academy.

Another funfilled and exciting Moving Matters Gala took place last week at Streatham Leisure Center. We had our biggest turnout in Moving Matters history with 18 schools competing. Lambeth head coach Caroline Findlay who supports our gala all year round said for the age group this was a very high standard and highly competitive. BETTER sent along two amazing staff members to support our galas throughout the day. Sue Robinson and Tom Edwards presented throughout the day and supported all our wonderful swimmers. By clicking on the document below you will not only see all individual race results but the overall placing of the top three schools. Amazing facilities, sunshine and lots of competition...what more could we ask for. Kennington Park saw over 150 talented and excited children (and coaches) take part in our Moving Matters Year 3/4 Tag Rugby Tournament. We had three pools and 30 games this morning and it was a truly amazing experience for everyone involved. Smiles, sweat and some tears added to the day as we came closer to the semi finals. Henry Cavendish, Lark Hall and Julian's Primary Schools all made the semi final. Nobody could have predicted the epic outcome of TWO Julian's teams in the final going head to head. Moving Matters teacher and Julian's Primary School head of PE Matthew Hayman trained both teams to this outstanding display of tag rugby. Congratulations to all involved. Check out our twitter @moving_matters for snippets of the action.
