Autumn Holiday Camp Recap

England’s Rugby World Cup Performance

Over the last few weeks, England put in a fantastic performance in the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Despite agonisingly losing by a point to the eventual winners South Africa in the Semi-Finals, they outperformed expectations, picking up the bronze medal against Argentina 26-23.

After poor performances against France, Ireland and Wales in the buildup to the World Cup, England were not expected to make it past the Quarter Finals, so a Bronze medal was a great reward for the amazing performances from the Roses.

In term 1 lots of our team were teaching Tag-Rugby in their schools, using the World Cup as a source of inspiration for children locally. Our Tag-Rugby competition evidenced the talent in local schools and we’d encourage anyone interested to get involved with local rugby club Brixton Bulls, information can be found here:

Girls Football At Moving Matters

There is a lot scheduled for Girls Football at Moving Matters in the near future. Off the back of the Lionesses performance in the 2023 Women’s World Cup, we have put an extra emphasis on investing in our Girls Football delivery.

We have so many talented girls in the Moving Matters family and showcasing them is a priority with us.

Upcoming Competition

Year 4 – 6 Girls Football @ Kennington Park

Next Thursday we will be hosting our 3rd competition of the academic year. Last year we had 22 schools registered for this and this year we have 23, meaning over 200 girls will be competing in a tournament-style competition.

Weetabix Wildcats Programme – Coming Soon

We are also currently registering as a Weetabix Wildcats Girls Football provider. What this means is that we will have a dedicated Girls-Only football session at an affordable price.

The Weetabix Wildcats programme is a great initiative that focuses on getting girls aged 5-11 more involved in football. It’s non-competitive football for girls who want to give it a go for the very first time or want to play with other girls their own age. Most importantly, Weetabix Wildcats is all about having fun and meeting new amazing friends.

We are hoping for a January 2024 launch and will keep parents and schools updated with everything that is happening on our end.
