Activity: using either a parter or a wall, set up a goal. Position yourself between 5 and 20m away from the goal (depending on age, ability and football experience) and practise striking the ball with the laces of your shoe towards the goal. For now, focus on a clean strike on the ball, making sure your shot is accurate. 

 

Progression: set a marker as a starting point and another as a shooting point. Practise dribbling the ball towards the shooting point and striking the ball towards the goal.


Progression 2: set up a marker a 2 feet inside each post. Aim to shoot towards the corner of the goal. Double points are scored for each goal in this zone. 

 

Things to think about: how many shots can I score consecutively? Which different parts of the foot can I use to shoot with? Can I shoot close the posts, into the corners of the goal? Can I score a curled shot?
