This week we are learning a range of Athletics skills. Day by day, you will learn a range of athletics techniques and finish by putting your skills to the test with a skills/performance challenge at the end of the week. See your guide for the week below:

Develop your speed and sprinting technique using the following guides:

Activity:  Mark out a race track in a straight line, ideally 10-20m long. Practise sprinting the full distance, aiming to add a new part of the technique with each go, until you are performing the full sprint with a standing starting position, the drive phase, the stride phase and the finish. 


Extend: You can increase the challenge of this activity by increasing the length of the track and adding the crouched sprinters block start shown above. 


Support: You can make this activity more simple by just focusing on the start of the race and gradually adding the other bits of technique over the course of a few days.
