This week we are learning a range of Athletics skills. Day by day, you will learn a range of athletics techniques and finish by putting your skills to the test with a skills/performance challenge at the end of the week. See your guide for the week below:

Put all the athletics skills and techniques we have learnt this week to the test in the skill challenge below:


Skill Challenge 1:

Sprinting: Ask someone in your family to help you time your sprints. Set out a 20m track and complete one sprint. Following this, you have 5 attempts to beat this time. Keep a record of how many times you beat your best time and let us know! Can you use all the sprinting techniques in one go? Remember, sprinting is about going as fast as you can for a short distance, so make sure you put as much effort in as you can!



Skill Challenge: 2:

Standing Long Jump: complete one jump and record your distance. Following this, you have 10 jumps to try to beat this distance. Remember to measure from your heel!



Skill Challenge 3:

Throwing. Mark out a clear starting point as on Wednesday. Using shotput and javelin techniques, complete one throw. Following this, you have 10 shotput throws and 10 javelin throws to get the best score possible. Did you beat your first score? 



Skill Challenge 4:

1k challenge. How quickly can you run 1 kilometre? Make sure you run with someone else for safety and ask them to help you time your run. If you cannot do this, mark out the 10m distance and see how many laps you can run in 10 minutes. Let us know your times and scores!
