MONDAY

DRIBBLING - CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO EXPLAINING TODAY'S ACTIVITY

Screen_Shot_2020-05-19_at_15.26.32.png

Activity: set out a 10x10 feet area using small markers (shoes, socks etc). Practise dribbling the ball from one side of the area to the opposite side, aiming to take as many touches on the ball as you can, whilst keeping the ball moving. Each turn, alternate feet so that dribbling and control skills are developed on both sides.

Progress: practise dribbling using a different part of the foot each time e.g. the laces, the instep, the outside, the sole.

Activity 2: using the markers you used for the first activity, scatter them across the floor, creating obstacles. Practise dribbling in and out of the markers usind as many different parts of the foot as possible.

Daily challenge: how many times can you dribble across the area in Activity 1 in 1 minute? 3 minutes? 5 minutes? How many times can I complete the dribbling course in Activity 2 in 1 minute? 3 minutes? 5 minutes?

PASSING - CLICK HERE FOR AN VIDEO EXPLAINING TODAY'S ACTIVITY

Activity: for this activity, we are working on short, accurate passing. This is best done with a partner, or with a flat wall with space to move in front of the wall. Position yourself approximately 5-10m from the wall and practise playing accurate passes with the instep of your foot. As the ball bounces back, control it and play another pass, aiming to repeat this action as many times as possible without losing control of the ball or making a mistake. How many repetitions can you complete?

Scoring: for each successful pass, score 1 point.

Progression: try to play passes, alternating left and right feet with each pass. Remember to control the ball before passing.

Progression 2: try to play one touch passes, altenating left and right feet with each pass. Aim for a solid contact on the middle of the ball.

Things to think about: how many passes can I complete without losing control of the ball? Can I use different parts of the foot to strike the ball?

WEDNESDAY

RUNNING WITH THE BALL - CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO EXPLAINING TODAY'S ACTIVITY

Activity: for this activity, it will probably be best to use a wide open space, such as a park. This activity focuses on speed and running with the ball. Set out a 30m track and practise running with the ball from one end to the other as fast as possible, taking as few touches as possible. Touches should be heavier than with dribbling, though not too heavy to ensure the ball is still under control.

Progress: set out markers in a zig zag pattern across the track. Practise running with the ball and making gradual turn as you move at speed.

Things to think about: what parts of the foot are best to use for this activity? When is it useful to run with the ball at speed, taking heavier touches?

Scoring: record your best time for completing each stage of the activity.

THURSDAY

SHOOTING - CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO EXPLAINING TODAY'S ACTIVITIES

  Screen_Shot_2020-05-19_at_15.27.27.png

Activity: using either a parter or a wall, set up a goal. Position yourself between 5 and 20m away from the goal (depending on age, ability and football experience) and practise striking the ball with the laces of your shoe towards the goal. For now, focus on a clean strike on the ball, making sure your shot is accurate.

Progression: set a marker as a starting point and another as a shooting point. Practise dribbling the ball towards the shooting point and striking the ball towards the goal.

Progression 2: set up a marker a 2 feet inside each post. Aim to shoot towards the corner of the goal. Double points are scored for each goal in this zone.

Things to think about: how many shots can I score consecutively? Which different parts of the foot can I use to shoot with? Can I shoot close the posts, into the corners of the goal? Can I score a curled shot?
