WeLCOME ABOARD THE BLACK PEARL, THE FASTEST, FINEST SHIP ON THE SEVEN SEAS. QUICK! THE CAPTAIN'S COMING TO CHECK EVERYTHING IS IN ORDER AND READY FOR OUR VOYAGE. YOU BETTER TAKE A LOOK AROUND AND GET TO KNOW THE SHIP!

Activity - in a open space, either in the garden, in a park or in the house (making sure furniture is moved to the side), start by standing in the middle of the area. Get a family member to call out North, South, East and West (label each side of the area before you start) and run to whichever side of the room is called. Experiment with different ways of moving (running, walking, hopping, skipping, jumping, crawling etc).

Activity 2 - this time, label each side of the room the different sides of a pirate ship. North = Bow, South = Stern, East = Port, West = Starboard.

Things to think about: Can you name all the sides of a pirate ship? Which different ways of moving have you used?

TUESDAY

BALANCING - CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO DEMONSTRATION OF TODAY'S ACTIVITY

HERE WE ARE, OUT ON THE OPEN SEAS. THE SUN IS BEATING DOWN, THE SEA BREEZE BLOWING ALL AROUND. BUT, OH... WHAT'S THAT IN THE DISTANCE? IT LOOKS LIKE A STORM IS BREWING AND WE'RE HEADING STRAIGHT FOR IT! EVERYONE HOLD ON, THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET ROUGH!

Activity: In this activity, we are going to work on our balance using lots of different parts of the body. Ask a family member call out the following parts of the body to balance on and see how long you can hold each balance.

- One leg, 2 legs and 2 arms, 1 leg and 1 arm, Knees (on soft ground), Bottom.

Things to think about: Which balance did you hold for the longest? Can you create your own balances? Can you hold your balance if someone gently nudges you?

WEDNESDAY

AGILITY, JUMPING AND DODGING - CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO EXPLAINING TODAY'S ACTIVITY

PHEW, WE GOT THROUGH THE STORM SAFELY. But WAIT! THE SPOTTER IN THE CROW'S NEST HAS SEEN AN ENEMY PIRATE SHIP ON THE HORIZON. . . ALL HANDS ON DECK! THEY'RE READYING THEIR CANNONS! THIS COULD GET MESSY!

Activity: find an open space (garden, park or clear space in the house) and collect as many pairs of socks as possible. Ask a family member to gently throw the socks towards you so that you can sidestep, jump and dodge them as they come towards you (as if they were cannonballs).

Progress: can you catch the socks as they are thrown towards you?

Things to think about: How many pairs of socks did you dodge? Can you catch with 2 hands? Can you catch with 1 hand? Can you jump over the socks as they flew through the air?

THURSDAY

TARGET THROWING - CLICK HERE FOR AN DEMONSTRATION VIDEO FOR TODAY'S ACTIVITY

WE DODGED THE SHOTS, WELL DONE CREW! THE ENEMY SHIP HAS STOPPED FIRING AND IT LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE RUN OUT OF CANNON BALLS. . . TIME TO FIRE BACK. READY THE CANNONS!

Activity: set up a target (a chair, a bin, a laundry basket etc) and gather lots of pairs of socks. Practise throwing the socks towards the target, aiming to hit it using underarm and over arm throws?

Progress: ask a family member to hold the target and move slowly side to side, providing a moving target.

Things to think about: Can you hit the target with an overarm throw and an undearm throw? How many times did you hit the target?

FRIDAY

TREASURE HUNT - CLICK HERE FOR AN EXPLANATION VIDEO OF TODAY'S ACTIVITIES

WE HAVE ESCAPED THE OTHER PIRATE SHIPS AND HAVE ARRIVED ON A SMALL ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN. OUR MAP SAYS THIS IS WHERE THE TREASURE IS BURIED, so let's get looking before the other pirate ships arrive!

Activity: ask a family member to hide 10 objects around the garden/house/area you are playing in. Your challenge is find as many of the objects as you can in 5 minutes. This challenge is all about speed!

Things to think about: How many objects did you find? Can you find all of the objects? Can you race against a sibling or another family member to find all the treasure?

ENJOY!
