How Can The UK’s Inactivity Crisis Be Tackled? |
|
![]() |
|
The government’s ambitious goal of having an additional 2.5 million adults and 1 million more children classified as ‘active‘ in England by 2030 reflects a crucial recognition of the persistent issue of physical inactivity in the country.
For years, England has grappled with alarmingly high levels of inactivity, leading to various health, social and economic challenges. Encouraging more people to lead active lifestyles is indeed a commendable and necessary endeavor. To make this vision a reality, it will require a multi-pronged approach involving government policies, community initiatives, and individual commitment.
While the target is possible, achieving it will be no small feat. Several factors will play a pivotal role in determining the feasibility of this objective. Investment in sports and physical education programs in schools, the availability of affordable and accessible recreational facilities, and campaigns to raise awareness about the benefits of an active lifestyle will be instrumental in driving change.
One of the key aspects is also addressing socio-economic disparities that often limit access to physical activities will be crucial, which is one of the key motivators behind our Holiday Activity and Food Programme participation.
Continuous monitoring and evaluation of progress, along with regular adjustments to strategies, will be essential to track and maintain momentum toward the 2030 goal.
At Moving Matters our vision is to help create a healthier society for future generations and this purpose couldn’t be anymore important than right now in this overly sedentary/inactive society. |

Thank You Anna |

After nearly ten years of service to Moving Matters, Anna Tambling decided to move on this summer. Anna worked for the company as a Primary PE Specialist initially and then the part time responsibility of being Lead coach for our Lambeth Short Breaks provision.
In her more recent role, Anna has developed a great understanding of the children in her care and supported the development of our support staff on the programme.
Her impact on this programme and the children has been fantastic, as highlighted in the feedback we have recently received from parents
“The coaches that have worked with my child have all shown great patience and care. They have supported him in developing not only his PE skills but his social skills.”
Many thanks to Anna for her years of devoted service and we all wish her the very best for the future. |
